- Greening the City: The Cultural Politics of Climate Change (2011-present)
An anthropological study of how climate change affects politics, explored through an ethnography of practices of urban carbon reduction.
- Digital Models and their Publics (2009-2010)
A collaborative project between anthropologists, architects and engineers on how digital models generate persuasive public effects.
A joint ethnography with Penny Harvey, looking at road construction and political relations in Peru. The research culminated in a book: ‘Roads: An Anthropology of Infrastructure and Expertise‘
- The Role of ICTs in Business Knowledge Processes (2003-2005)
A interdisciplinary research project combining anthropology, organisation studies and information systems researchers. I worked on this project as a postdoctoral researcher. The project studied how large scale information systems were framing ideas about knowledge in large organisations.
- PhD Research: Blocks to Convergence: An Anthropological Study of SMEs in Manchester (1999-2003) (PDF file)
An ethnographic study of how digital media technologies were being imagined and deployed in the pursuit an economic future for the post-industrial city of Manchester at the beginning of the 21st Century.
